My 1990 Cape Cod style home has undergone so many updates since I purchased it in December of 2011. If you could see the before and after photos you will agree that Super Dad and I have done A-LOT of work on this house. Not only does this add value to the home, but it’s something to show off when you have company.
If you have been following my blog you may remember my older DIY home projects such as the backyard tree deck, the porch swing, mailbox upgrade and the sunroom project to name a few. (Click on each project to see the posts.) Just to refresh your memory, this was what my house looked like in 2011 and then in 2015.
This month’s project is focused on the kitchen. I wanted to put in a clean, white kitchen backsplash. I prefer mini subway tiles on grey grout to make the tiles pop. I feel that white tiles brighten up the kitchen and gives it a modern look.
This was what the kitchen looked like from the MLS listing in 2011 before I purchased the house. Since then, the cabinets and walls have been repainted to brighten up the space.
Cringe! Here is how it looked in 2015 before adding the tiles. See a big difference from the 2011 photo?
The only thing I kept after moving in was the original Bon Appetit backsplash over the stove. This is what the kitchen looks like with the mini white subway tiles.
Big difference from the original kitchen photos right? This was the least expensive project in the house. For a total of $125 I got a beautiful looking backsplash that makes my kitchen magazine-worthy. Well, maybe.
This is not the end of the DIY projects in my house. Now, I just need to save some money to change out the counter tops. There’s always something to upgrade.
