Coachella, California

If you are following my social media, you may have noticed a few posts from Coachella, California. Craft Box Girls founder, Lynn Lilly, DIY Editor, Allison (AKA Allie) Cawley and me, Director of Content was out west the first weekend of Coachella. We were there for a Palm Breeze brand activation.

Palm Breeze is a malt beverage similar to beer but tastes like a Caribbean cooler. The activation was to introduce young, female consumers to Palm Breeze by offering samples at the cabana. While they sample delicious cocktails, CBG was there to apply the arts and crafts experience. We braided hair with Dutch, fishtail, and regular braids. We drew white henna inspired by floral and tribal art on their hands, arms, face, chest and even lower back. People got creative with where they wanted the white henna to show. Even the guys enjoyed the experience. At the end of the day, we taught festival go-ers how t o make a flower crown they can wear to the music festival when the sun sets.

To clarify, we were not actually at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. We were at the surrounding day parties and campsites set up to complement Coachella. We were at Base Camp which was in Indio/Coachella, California. Coachella go-ers camped there by night and attended the day party by, you know, day.  Everyone was so nice. From the Base Camp welcome wagon to the day party attendees, they all had the laid back, everything-is-OK California attitude. They made the experience so much more exciting. I took some photos from the activation to share with you all.

Although this trip was strictly business, I couldn’t help but sneak in a little fun after hours. Allie and I drove around the desert to find photo worthy locations. We found a few palm trees and desert flowers. That’s about it for Indio and Coachella. If you are not attending the concert, there wasn’t much to see or do in these two towns. Oh, I hear the Applebees is a happening place for happy hour.

In June, I’ll be in Bonnaroo in Tennessee with Lynn for a Teva activation. Stay tuned for that exciting trip!
