I had the privileged to do the creative work for an Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower. My sister, Thao and friend, Youn hosted the shower over the weekend. The mom-to-be was our dear friend, Alice. It was the perfect theme for a mom-to be named Alice celebrating her baby girl, Stella on Mother’s Day weekend.
Did I forget to mentioned the shower was a surprise? Alice’s husband and parents were all in on the surprise. We pulled it off successfully. She was completely shocked and had no idea we planned this all along. She was in tears. Happy tears, of course. On top of that, this was her first surprised party ever. She and her husband loved every detailed part of the baby shower decor.
The Alice in Wonderland theme was adorable. I enjoyed doing all the creative work. Thao came up with the details from the movie Alice in Wonderland. We had clocks, arrows, Queen of Hearts Soldiers, tea cups, keys, spoons, moss, flowers, a purple caterpillar, and grand cake with a tea party theme.
For small bites, we kept the choices simple and made sure everything was pregger friendly. That means no mayo, deli meats and caffeine. We served meatballs, rotisserie turkey croissants, cheese plate, fruit, kale salad, Brie and apricot cups and tortilla chips with spinach artichoke dip. Every tea party must have sweets. There were mini brownie bites and loaded chocolate chip cookies. Finally, the grand finale was a decadent red velvet cake.
