Summer is all about entertaining and sharing good food and drinks with family and friends. When you sit around the dinner table enjoying your meal know that you can enjoy it even more with a refreshing watermelon sangria.
Sangria comes in red and white. I chose Pino Grigio, a white wine, to keep it a light sangria and complement with sparkling lemonade instead of adding simple syrup. It’s sweeter and fruitier and much easier to share than a cocktail. Watermelon sangria is paired well with grilled seafood and vegetables. Just throw together a pitcher of this and you’re all set for drinks. Now just keep it coming.
1 bottle of white wine (Pino Grigio)
1 and 1/2 cup sparkling lemonade
fresh mint leaves
Combine all ingredients into a pitcher. Stir well and refrigerate for 2-4 hours. Serve chilled and allow some of the garnish to fill the glass.
This watermelon sangria has a sparkling side. It’s made of sparkling lemonade to give the sangria an extra sweetness.
If you are not into the sweet sangria, substitute sparkling lemonade with club soda. No matter what you add or substitute, sangria is sangria and any wine is great with soaked fruit.
Enjoy the summer eating and drinking.
